The Gates of Discord expansion has released a new system called the tribute system. In the new tribute system you can donate platinum or items to a NPC in your home town in exchange for favor points. These tribute points can be used to activate several special abilities.

To get these buffs you need to see a tribute master. There will be one in your home town. You can only use the tribite master that is the same race as you are.

The value of the tribute points is 1 plat. This means 1 plat = 1 tribute point. The tribute points are subtracted every 10 minutes. Thus if you had a pool of 40 tribute points and you had a tribute buff working that cost 10 points. It would remove 10 points from your tribute pool every 10 minutes. When you ran out of points the buff would stop. You can also downgrade the system at any time or close it completely to stop from spending the tribute points. To open the "Mini" tribute window hit Alt+U here you can downgrade the buffs you have on you and also see the timer and amount of points you have left. You will have to return to the tribute master to upgrade or reactivate the buffs. The NPC 's responsible for the system are as follows:

Right now the tribute masters are offering a very considerable amount of points for commonplace items. The Opal Encrusted Stein for example usually sells in the bazaar for 25-50 plat. The tribute masters will give you 1280 points for it. I don't expect this to last very long at all.

You have to start the buff at the tribute vendor. You cannot pause the buff. It will keep costing you until you turn it off. You can go here to see a list of all of the tribute spells, their costs and level restrictions.
