Charming

There are a variety of way's to use pets to experience as a druid, as well as a variety of way's of getting those pets. The 2 way's we get a premanent pet is by summong a pet via nature walker's behest and dire charming. Nature walker's behest will summon a level 35 bear to your aid. Considering the level you have to be to get this spell it makes it just about useless. Dire charm on the other hand allows you to charm a level 46 and lower pet. Go here to see what pets can be Dire charmed. Dire Charmed pets can be a very significant DPS in a group especially in the Planes of Power.

Regular charming is done using a a spell from our line of pet spells.
Additional spells are also useful in conrtolling your pet and buffing him. Freal Spirit and savage spirit both increase the pet's attack speed. Glamour of Tunare lowers a animal's magic resist thus making it easier to land a charm spell and it also makes the charm spell last longer.

Regular charming:

At level 14, druids get a line of spells that allows us to charm animals. The 'charm' time is random and whatever you charm will aggro on you once the charm breaks. A general rule of thumb is the lower the animal cons to you the longer it will usually stay charmed.

Charming can be risky business. It is wise to snare your pet before charming it and also snare the mob that you will be fighting. This will give you time to re charm the pet if charm drops during the fight.

The 2 spells Feral Spirit and Savage Spirit will singificantly add to the speed in which your pet attacks. Depending on how you plan on using your pet you may or may not want to use these spells. If your pet has a large amount of hit points you may want it to come close to death during a fight. It is more mana efficent and better experience to invis just before your pet kills the mob and then root both your pet and the mob and kill both getting full experience for both kills. If you have hasted your pet in a fight like this he will have significantly more hit points that you have to remove to kill him. This will be much easier than healing your pet up to full health before every fight.

Aggro Kiting:

This can be done either using dire charm or regular charm spells. Basically if you have the room and the mob that you wish to kill does too much damage to your pet to sustain it you can aggro kite the mob. The key to this is keeping the mob and your pet snared and keeping the mobs aggro on you as your pet attacks from behind. The most popular 3 spells for keeping aggro is flame lick, snare and any nuke spell with a stun componenet. It is essential wherever you are aggro kiting that there are no wandering mobs that may aggro on you or your pet while you are kiting. If this happens it oftentimes results in you having to flee or die.
