Complete guide on Fishing with God

With the release of the Gates of Discord Fishing has become a very popular past time and rightfully so. You can make around 700-800 plat per hour fishing in the abysmal see and with no risk to yourself.

This guide will walk you thru all the aspects of fishing in the Abysmal Sea including tips and tricks to make the most of your time here.

Skill:

The higher your skill the bigger the fish you catch. Bigger fish sell for more money. I highly reccomend you do the Fisherman's Companion quest if you plan on spending a significant amount of time here. It will definately pay for itself many times over.

If you don't have a fishing skill you will need to train 1 point in fishing to get it. Fishing is a level based skill so a low level fishing 'Bot' will not work. The good news is that the Abysmal sea is a combat free zone so there is no chance of dying here unless you drown.

Getting Set up:

Your gonna need bags, lots of bags the more the merrier. You will be buying stacks and stacks of bait and you will be carrying stacks and stacks of fish as well. If you bind by the merchant then there is no need to have Weight Reduction bags unless you already have them.

To get to the Abysmal Sea you will need to take a boat from Nedaria's Landing. This boat will take you directly there. When the boat stops at the dock you will be at the pier. This is where most people fish. First thing you want to do is hit the backspace key. Suprise you have a map of this zone. Locate the banker and make you way to them. They are inside the ship so don't be running around on the deck all confused. Straight across from the bankers is a merchant that sells general supplies. Bind here. This will save you a great deal of time.

Now you are bound just a step away from the merchant and also the banker is just next door. Cast lev on yourself and head out onto the main deck. When you get there run over the side. It doesn't matter which direction you go. After a few seconds you will come to a wall follow it until you see one of these:

These can be stood on. 2 good things about these are they are private so no one is running around distracting you and 2 they can be gotten to very quickly from the bank if you are leved. You cannot get up on these from the water you must get on it by walking off of the ship.

Fishing:

Now you can start fishing. First let's set up a fishing macro to make things easier. To understand Macros read the guide here. Now look at the macro below. This is what you are going to want to put in the macro's command lines. This will enable you to fish 2 times by hitting the button only one time. Plus it automatically puts the fish in your inventory.

/pause 115,/doability 1
/autoinventory
/pause 115,/doability 1
/autoinventory

So now that your set up all you need to do is keep hitting the key. From time to time you will want to clear out all of the trash you get. Shoes, daggers, and key's are common here so it is easy to run out of space if you don't delete them every so often. Usually what I do is buy 30 stacks of fishing bait. This provides me with hours of bait but gives me enough room to hold all of the fish too. The fish take alot of space because they come in 2 styles and several diffrent sizes. Depending on your skill and how long you stay per round you should figure that you will need around 30 open slots for fish alone.

After I fillup or run out of bait I gate and sell to the vendor, buy more bait run to bank and drop plat off. Then Irun out and get back to my spot. It only takes a minute once you get used to it so it's really a efficent system.

Tips:

you do not need to equip bait to use it. when you fish the bait will be removed from your inventory. So don't worry about putting it in your ammo slot unless you need the space.

You can fish while sitting. Works just as well as standing.

Forget the Key's. you'll read on many sites that there is a quest where you can turn in the key that you fish sometimes and you will get a potion that sells for 57 pp. This quest was nerfed the potion now is lore no drop. so it is better just to destroy the key's.
