Elysians and
their Armor

Elysian Armor is some of the most sought after armor for the non 'uber' guild players of EQ. It is no drop armor that drops off of the disturbed elysian remains in the Umbral Planes. These creatures are very tough and not easily killed. It is reccomended that you be at least Level 53 with a mana pool of 2300 and KEI to even attempt these creatures. Also a clicky dot item such as your epic and or the Elder Spiritist's Vambracers are very useful.

Getting to the Umbral Plains is a major effort. You have to pass through the maidens eye. This is a extremely dangerous zone and it is very easy to die here and quickly. The zone in to the Umbral Planes is the most dangerous you will basically have to just make a run for it. Several of the mobs see invis and if you are unlucky they can kill you almost instantly. Once you get here I highly reccomend you bind here to save the trip.

Elysian armor is no drop and minimum level of 50. Some people come to the umbral planes in their mid 40's looking for 'table scraps' basically this is armor that no one else wants. Some people look upon this tactic with distain some do not so expect to occasionally get some flack if you choose to do this.

Once you are in the Umbral Planes you need to invis up and go right. You are looking for a valley known as the safe valley. This is where just about everyone hunts elysians at. There are no roaming mobs here and Elysians can be pulled here relatively safely.

It takes a considerable amount of time to kill an elysian. They are by no means easy creatures. Usually at 53-55 it takes in the range of 10-13 minutes to kill each one not including med time.

Option: Bind here-
Some people choose to bind in the valley and shout out that they are willing to pay for elysian drops that no one needs. Then they port out gating in every half hour or so and giving another shout out. Being that you are offering a plat incentive for the drops people will be more prone to send you a tell when the armor they don't need drops. The bad part about this tactic is it offends some people and if you die and end up at your bind spot with bad timing you can be caught in a death loop. So use this trick at your own risk.

Now how often does the armor drop. The most popular theory is that the armor drops a average of 1 in 5 mobs. But many of the pieces of armor are rare. The crown, tunic, and armplates are a rather rare drop. There's no real way of telling how long you will have to stay here to get the armor piece(s) you want. The drops are totally random. You could find the tunic you want on the first mob or you could kill 250 mobs and not get one.

The experience on the elysians is great. Which is a good thing cause you are probably goin to spend a great deal of time here to get the armor you need. Be careful many mobs here do summon so just running away won't help you oftentimes. Elysiand hit ahrd and fast even when snared they move pretty quick and root breaks very often. If you have the Warden Symbol of Tunare it will make a great deal of diffrence if you run out of mana and can't root.
