Setup:
In this part I will show you the more technical aspects of Everquest communication. You will learn how to activate tell windows, create new chat windows as well as filter certain text into these windows.
Tell Windows:
By default tell windows are off. If you receive a tell it will go to the main chat window and appear in purple text. You can activate tell windows in the options section. To open up the options window you need to click the nut shaped icon on the menu, third one from the left.
Under the General tab you will see a Use tell Windows button. You can press this buttong to activate the tell windows option. When you receive a tell, a window will pop up on your screen and flash for a few seconds to get your attention. All you have to do is type in this window to respond to the person. You can have several tell windows open.
Creating a new Chat window:
This is a very useful thing to use. Especially if you are grouping or attending a raid. You can create a specific window and set up the window to display raid, group, and or guild text. Then while in battle you can see this text without having to sort through all of the battle spam to get your messages.
You can have as many seperate chat windows as you like. You probably don't want more than 3, usually people use 2, one for main texts like group, guild, raid info and a second for /ooc, shout, and battel spam. To create a second chat window right click your current chat window. A menu should pop up like in the screenshot. Choose new chat window.
This will create a new chat window.
Now right click this window and choose filters.
A side menu will open and you can choose what types of messages you want to go to this window by selecting them. When you have chosen a type of text to go to this window a * will appear by it and you will receive a text confirmation in the window as well.
You will now have 2 windows. You can customize both of these windows to display the text that you want by changing the filters.
