This guide will walk you through all of the aspects of the bazaar. The bazaar was added as part of the Shadows of luclin expansion. It is found off of the Nexus.
When you zone into the bazaar the first thing you will notice is the lag. This is to be expected. There are usually around 500 people in the bazaar at any one time, sometimes more.
The easiest thing you can do to navigate in the bazaar is pan down or hit the F9 key. This will reduce your view but it will also allow you to move around with less lag. Your view should look like the shot below.
To bring up the bazaar search tool type /baz . You can only use the tool in the bazaar. You cannot use it outside of the bazaar.
Now let's go over the bazaar search features.
All of your search parameters can be found on the left. These should be pretty much self explanatory. If you want a neck item you choose Neck in the Select By Slot category. Of course you will want to put your race and class in the search feature as well so you see only items that your class and race can wear. Once you have placed the criteria in the boxes hit the find button at the bottom left. This will display the list of items currently in the bazaar that fit the criteria.
If you had very general search parameters you will most likely see a yellow message on your text window. This informs you you have found more than 200 items. The bazaar search will only show 200 items so you will need to refine your search.
If you see a item you are interested in select over it's name with your mouse and click the Inspect Item key at the bottom of the bazaar search. This will pop up a window showing the item stats.
If you want to find the trader that is selling this item there are 2 way's to do so. First you can select over the item and then hit the Find Trader key. This will illuminate a yellow path showing you where the trader is as in the screenshot. The other thing you can do is Right click the trader's name. This will face you in the direction of the trader. You can do this repeatedly to lead you to the trader.
The Welcome button at the bottom of the Bazaar search will relist the traders in zone and the items up for sale. You get this message as you first zone into the bazaar. This is a good tool for knowing if the bazaar is full. The bazaar will only support 550 traders at any one time.
The update traders tab will update the list of traders in your criteria search.
If you want to start a search again from scratch you can click the reset button to set all the search criteria back to the default setting. If you close the bazaar window it will save the search criteria you put in the last time. When you log out this criteria will be lost.
Setting up Trader:
You can sell your products to other players by "going into trader mode". First you will need to buy some containers. You can do this in the middle building in the bazaar. If you are entering from the nexus as you enter this middle building the trader that sells these bags will be immediatley on your right. His name is Merchant Tekrama he's at loc -762,-26 they cost 1pp 5sp each. You will need to buy Trader's Sachels from him to sell products in the bazaar. Items in normal bags will not show up in the trader window. These bags are very heavy weighing 25 stones. They are 10 slot bags and should only be used in the bazaar because of their excessive weight.
Once you have purchased your bags from the trader you must place the items you want to sell in the bags. you will now need to stand under one of the stalls, you cannot set up trader if you are not under one. When you have found your spot type /trader. This will open up the trader window as seen below.
First select the item in the right window. then click on the coin images and a pop up window will appear where you can set the amount you want to sell the item for.
*Important Note - the price you set is for each item. Say you have a stack of spider silks. The price you set will be the price for each silk not the whole stack.
Once you have selected the price hit the set price tab. Then you can hit the Add button. This will put the item up for sale. If the item was correctly set up the slot with the item will appear to have a green hue to it. You can now go down the list and set the prices to all of the items you want to sell.
When you are ready to sell your items click the Begin trader button. This will add all of the items and their prices to the bazaar search.
You can change the prices of your items at anytime by changing the price and hitting the set price button again. This will updae the item to the new price.
The list items button will list all the items you have for sale and the price you are charging for them.
When somone buy's a item from you it will be displayed in the trader window. It will tell you what he bought, How many ( if it was a stackable item ) and the price he paid. It will also show the player's name in case you need to contact him or something.
It's a good idea to check in every so often and make sure everything is going good. People will often send you tells asking questions about the items you have up for sale. Sometimes they want to haggle the price. It is also not uncommon to go Link Dead in the bazaar. With the amount of traffic that is there even the best connections can fail.
Things to watch out for:
Sneaky things go on in the bazaar. Never ever take anything for granted here. There are many items with very similar names some with exact names of other items. Alway's inspect the item before you buy it. Make sure it is what you are looking for. You cannot return a item if you have already purchased it. Unless the trader is at the keyboard and is willing to refund you which is rare.
It's very very easy to mistype the price of a item. Selling a 40k item for 4k is very disheartening. The set price feature in the trader window is slow. If you type the price in too fast it is very likely it will miss a digit. Check, double check, and tripple check. Especially on expensive items.
Beware of the Ogre! It is a common thing to check in and see a large race character sitting on top of your trader. This can be quite annoying but there really isn't anything that can be done about it.
Undercutting is not uncommon at all in the bazaar. People try to be the first to sell their items so they ask slighly less than what others are asking. The result is usually they sell the item first. This can be a issue if there are several people repeatedly undercutting each other.
Well that should get you well on the way with one of the most popular pastimes of everquest buying and selling. Good luck!
