The Basics
Druids
are the jack of all trades and the masters of none.
Think of them as the spackle that holds a group together.
They fill in the voids that the group may have. Druids
are not the best at any 1 thing but they are second
best in just about everything. This enables them to
adapt to the weaknesses in a group. Druids can nuke,
snare, heal, Dmg Shield, Single pull (outdoors) etc...
They are also excellent soloers. They have the ability
to use a wide variety of tactics to hunt, Charming,
quadding, root/rot, aggro kiting and many more.
Grouping
Usually
groups in a bind will take on a Druid to be their main
healer. Unlike a cleric, Druids are not as mana
efficient on their heals. At level 58 druids get a 75%
heal and things change dramatically. They are now more
efficient at healing than they ever were and they can
heal a large number of Hp's. In a group with a slower
druids are preferred over clerics because they can nuke
better and the healing is good enough to sustain the
group. As they progress to 65 they get even more heal
spells. Their fast heal take 3.75 seconds to cast and
heals for 1750 hp's. Their most powerful heal, heals
for 4680 hp's. They still aren't as efficient as clerics
but they are close.
Soloing
Druids
make one of the best soloists in the game. From
quad kiting, charming, to just plain rooting, they are
able to keep stuff away from them by many means.
The key to druid soloing is not to get hit. With snare
and root in their arsenal and the ability to port, gate,
and evac they have a excellent chance of killing most
of the mobs in everquest, or getting out of town if
things go bad. The only 2 bane's of a druid is mobs
that are immune to snare, root and mobs that summon.
Even some of these can be killed with a druid depending
on the circumstances. Charming a pet can assist in killing
a summoning mobs and if you have plenty of running room
you can swarm kite a unsnareable mob effectively too.
Power
Leveling
Druids
are by far the best class to be power leveled by.
Simply stick a skin buff, chloro and a damage shield
on you’re newbie friend and kick back. As long
as the newbie does 1 point of damage he will get all
the xp from killing the mob. The damage shile will do
the rest of the damage. You may need to toss the occasional
heal, but its worth it when you have a level 20 friend
within a couple hours.
Druids
are one of the most enjoyable classes to play their
multitude of abilities means they can experience in
many more areas than most classes and they get to see
many places in everquest that most cannot get to. When
a druid get's his AA abilities. Dire Charm, Innate Camo,
and Exodus, it opens up many more options for experiencing
as well as exploring. Few other classes can solo a PoP
tier 3 mob but druids do it all the time aggo kiting
with a Dire Charmed pet.
